The "Foot Print" Introduction

The "Foot Print" Introduction

The "Foot Print" Introduction

Activity: For this activity we were supposed to use tree different media to describe our foot print on what describe who we are. Basically we would use it to introduce ourselves to the class. The things that we were supposed to put on the foot print are hobbies, activates, and things you like to do. I traces my right foot meaning that I write and do most of my stuff with my right hand. I added my name and birthday to show my given name and when I was born, August the 25th. The two black lines are suspenders to represent my Hutterite culture, where I was born and raised. The sun is there because I love being outdoors riding my bike or walking/running. Of course, I had to add my sibling because I love them so much. Singing is also on of the things that I love to do around the campfire with guitars and all the young people from the community. Ever since I was a young kid, I have worked with cattle, and also the feather is a current hobby of mine to take care of the colonies egg laying chickens. Finally, the truck is something I do most of summer, hauling water and other things the colony needs. The three medias I used were pictures, the feathers, and the color pencils.

Extension Activity: After we have created the foot in the class room we can use the foot in a math activity to have students use it for a measuring tool. We could have them create their own measuring system to simulate how the standard measure system was made in the US. They would use their foot for a foot, and inches when their big toe. We would make sure to name their measuring system to their given name, so we do not mix them up with the standard system. This would generally be in the 3rd grade range. The activity would be to teach students about the measuring system in math class.
