VINCENT VAN GOGH PROJECT
Activity: In this class we learned about the artist Vincent Van Gogh from the time era 1953, Vincent thought himself how to draw, and received no formal knowledge. He only sold two of his artwork in his life time and today his paintings cost millions. Vincent would usually color in dark and sad colors maybe because of candle light and oil lamps that he used to paint under. Vincent Von Gough passed away at age 37 years old. In this activity we took different color tissue paper and created a colored sky by ripping strips and gluing them to piece of paper. I choose a sky that simulates a sunset. I used colors that you might see at a sunset. After adding all my colors I added glue on top to keep the tissue paper in place. Looking back I would have liked to have more time to cover more black spots, but time did not allow it. Then I added a black outline of a grain handling setup. Creating my Vincent Von Goth art project.
Extension Activity: For an extension project we could use the make a self-portrait with the same concept. First, we would take a projector and trace the heads of the students, and then have them cut it out. Then, we would add tissue paper for the background the way the students desire. This could be but on a bulletin board and student could look at each other and guess who the other person is. This would be the third grade level, because we would be using scissors because they can be dangerous for children.
